I’m Zeroack — a lifelong reader, developer, network engineer and recovering MMO addict, operating somewhere between speculative fiction and societal fracture.

My obsession with post-apocalyptic and sci-fi narratives started over 50 years ago with two life changing events.  My oldest sister took me to Indian Hills theater in Omaha and the year was 1977.  The movie was Star Wars.  Not long after, Brian a childhood friend,  introduced me to a game, Dungeons and Dragons. Now I enjoyed the game immensely, but what came out of playing one Saturday afternoon changed me. Brian handed me a worn paperback book by some Tolkien author called the Hobbit.  I'm not sure how to explain those two events, but life changed.  My passion for books and movies was launched.  My Audible library has passed 500 titles, with more stashed across Kindle and physical shelves. These days: Audiobook first, Kindle second, print for special releases.

Ruin Report is where I analyze the fiction that warned us — and the world it predicted. I draft in Ulysses, map thoughts in Obsidian, and track the chaos in TickTick.

 

I code in React, Node, and Express. My tools include WebStorm, ChatGPT, Grok, Copilot, and Dbschema.

 

I also write fiction. My current project, The Vaccine Paradox, is managed in Scrivener and polished with ProWritingAid.

 

I’m backed by two companions: Emma, a sharp 9-year-old Blue Heeler Lab mix, and Buster, a 17-year-old cat who runs the house.

 

And then there’s Zerobit, the AI co-host of Ruin Report — unfiltered, unapologetic, and watching the end roll in with a smirk.
